Twisted yucca?

I was given this plant about 8 years ago, I think it's a yucca, it was already twisted when I got it.

It has got quite a lot bigger over the years, and seems healthy enough, although it might be a bit dry at the moment.

As it has grown, it has snaked round and a new shoot at the lower stem has grown up and through the twisted stem.

Can anyone tell me why plant has grown this way? I can't seem to find any pictures or information as to why it twisted.

Well that’s an interesting shape! They lean towards the light, so often twist if they develop a lean, then the pot is rotated.
You don’t say if you like it or not, but if you don’t, just cut the 2 tops off (the green leaves) and replant that bit, throw the trunk away. Give them some new compost.
I’ve had one for decades, but if it gets too tall I start again with it.
    Hope this helps.

I like that ... much more interesting than the more usual ‘bog brush’ shape 😊

  • Yes, I do like the unusual look.

I'll change the compost, look after it and I hope it keeps on growing.
