Mortar stains on indian stone

Hi, does anybody have any advice on how to safely and gently remove mortar stains from indian stone. We've tried jet washing and scrubbing with washing up liquid but had no luck.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'd love to help. We have this and I feel we wasted every penny. It just looks like any old slabs now and you can't get it clean, no matter what you do.

You can buy something called Brick Cleaner.
Not the nicest of stuff to use. Full protective gear needed, I have used it many years ago and it did work.

I wouldn't use brick acid on Indian sandstone it contains hydrochloric acid and will ruin it.

Any mortar spillage should be wiped off immediately, the installer should have had several buckets of clean water and sponges to do this continuously as he worked. Much more difficult to get off once set. If it is Indian sandstone, make sure whatever product you try is alkaline - acid-based cleaners will damage the surface and make matters worse, as will over-enthusiastic power washing. If it’s a real mess, you might have to investigate the possibility of getting it professionally honed down and re-sealed by a stone expert - not just by any old cowboy. Trouble is, Indian stone is not great quality with poor hardness and frequent lamination issues (bits flake off) so how practical this would be, depending on the specific surface texture, I don’t know. You could try Lithofin WEXA all-purpose stone cleaner first, this is suitably alkaline and won’t damage or pit the surface of the stone.

I've had a lot of paving laid and Bradstone suggested this site as being very helpful -

I did have a problem and emailed them  - I got a very helpful and useful reply.
I'd suggest drop them a line and ask their advice
