Baron f1 tomato seeds

Hi

any idea how long does it take to germinate a baron f1 tomato seed? I sow it 2 weeks ago indoors in a propagator and still no signs of the plant.

I also sow parsley on the same day and the plant is about 2/3cm now, so I was expecting the tomato to be like that too

thanks

Not specific to that variety - a tomato's a tomato - but 2 weeks is getting rather long. I write down when mine come up (9 varieties last year, not including your one, sown 28th March): from last year, first ones up after 4 days, and by 13 days more or less all up (more than 90%). They'll be faster the warmer they are (within reason) - mine were in a heated propagator, so probably around 20C. My tomato seed wasn't fresh - I'd sown some from the same packets in the two previous years as well.

  • Ok, my shy tomato plants are growing now :) They have 2/3 leaves so i think those are ready to move to a bigger pot now, but not to the final big garden pot yet, as it is too cold outdoors, right?

    Any advise is welcome

    Thanks!

Move on to single pots now, but wait until no more frost before putting out.
  • I hope there will be no more frost, im based on South East and temperatures on the night should be around 3-4C.

Should i wait a bit more then to start moving them outdoors to harden them off?

    Thanks

They won't be happy outside until the average night temperature is at least 10°C which is usually around mid-late June here

  • yeah, same for me

Now, seriously, the baron tomato is expected to be harvested in july-august. If i move them outside that late, i dont think they would be ready for that time?

I don't grow them outdoors, but I sowed mine on 9 March and I usually start picking tomatoes mid-late June.
Baron is not a variety I know - some are more tolerant of cooler temps than others
