Suggestions for new roses

We already have many roses in our garden and are planning to plant 2 new roses  (6 - 8 feet max) at the back of a border. No particular colour scheme in mind but preferably large fragrent roses that would be repeat flowering. Any suggestions please? Thank you!

One idea are bourbons, many grow quite large (larger than often stated), perhaps on an obelisk? For example, Louise Odier, Mme Isaac Pereire.
  • Thanks for this information - the Mme Isaac Pereire looks promising. I've also been looking at Queen of Denmark. We already have one rose at the back of the border - it  has an amazing fragrence -  I don't know its name but this is a photo I took last year.
    Does anyone recognise it?

    Peace?
  • I'm not sure this is Peace......We've already got the 'Peace' and 'Compassion' climbing roses on an arch and this one is larger and the petals are yellow -changing to pink. I'll keep on looking!

Some of the old roses are repeat flowering, very scented and grow quite big. I've just planted Louise Odier, Felicia, Cornelia and Stanwell Perpetual. Also David Austin has a great selection of English shrub roses that answer to your requirements. https://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/collections/english-rose-shrubs
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
