Please can someone identify this worm?

I really hope it is all right to ask. We are new homeowners near Glasgow. The house has come with a lovely garden and we have to learn to care for it properly still. Since we have moved here we have been finding these large white worms lying around on the ground. Sometimes in groups, this one by itself. I think they are always dead when we find them.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Are you sure it’s a worm? Looks like some sort of silicone to me. Have you ever seen one move?
  • I haven’t seen one move, however I can’t imagine where the silicone would be coming from. I agree it looks a colour that I associate with silicone. I have found them in more than one location in the garden and am not keen to get closer because they remind me of parasitic roundworms, though they’re even more pale. I will try to find another one and lift it (with a stick or something) for another picture and a closer look, another day.

    😂

I would pick it up and squeeze it, smell it, chew it, see what happens. You won't get parasites from that, I promise

OH thinks it looks like a rice noodle ...  I'm not sure that I agree with him but ... any Thai Takeaways nearby?  :)
