Ducks do a pretty good job!
Mine are always furtling around the borders, don't harm the plants (apart from the odd flattened seedling) but my hostas have only the occasional hole :)
I've had no need to try the fleece solution, but I've never seen a slug on the sheep!. The Black Welsh wool would be  nicely inconspicuous on bare soil though.
  • I put some around plants in trough planters but they just turned mouldy and looked unsightly. The slugs were still there on the underside of the pots and as soon as it got damp enough they were happily feeding on my plants again.

I used nematodes 4 years ago and it has really helped and I also do everything possible to encourage birds into the garden which has made a difference. I have lots of blackbirds, starlings and pigeons and they seem to enjoy slugs along with the food I put down.

I used the wool pellets, found them useless, and they disappear very quickly after rain. Tried every other thing as well, and yes, unfortunately in the end, bucket of saline at night.  They happily cross the shingle, which surrounds the veggi plot, HOWEVER I have read for every slug you see there are 20 more underground
