Lawn Drainage / lawn cut too short?

I am in my second year of lawn care and the first year my lawn went from beautiful to now dead brown! I think I cut it too short at end of winter and I also have dense clay soil at this new build. Will it recover? I can’t. Seem to upload pictures to this post

    If your pic doesn’t appear reduce its size and try again ... that usually does the trick 🤞
