Sweet pea leaves going white

Hello I sowed some sweet pea seeds and the leaves are starting to go white at the edges. The middle of the leaves are fine but the outside edges are starting to look dry and white. They are well watered and ventilated and not in a draft at all. I haven't sown sweet peas before so not sure what the issue is.

If they are exposed to cold strong wind it might be wind scorch. Where do you keep them?
  • Hello - they are still on the top of my fridge at the moment! I only sowed them a few weeks ago so they are still at the baby stage.

Might it be too hot and dry for them then? Do they get enough light? I‘m not sure what the issue is, they’re usually easy to grow. I’ve put mine in the coldframe as soon as they’ve germinated in the house and they are fine. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

It sounds like burns or as @pitter-patter says - scorching.  Could have had a bit of sun hit them.  They are pretty hardy being of the pea family so could probably do with going into a sheltered spot outside out of the wind and direct sunlight.  Bring them in at night if you are worried about it being too cold or frosty.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Oh maybe -  they are in a very bright spot so maybe too bright. I'll change the location and see what happens - thanks very much. I don't want to lose them before they're in the ground!
