IDENTIFICATION AND CARE

I'd be grateful if someone could identify these trees for me and provide some advice on the best way to care for them. They seem to be in reasonable condition although the bases were heavily weeded with a clingy, deep rooted 'holly' type and there is some evidence of rot at the base, probably superficial. sorry about the orientation - my Apple always seems to rotate the image if not .png.

Possibly thuja plicata (Wester Red cedar) or the dreaded Lleylandii perhaps, but l'm not sure, sorry.
