It's the luck of the Irish!!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • I never bothered to think what colour the markings are on Clover leaves before. But it seems they are white on our 'usual' Clover. So is this "Red-spotted clover" (or "Spotted Medic" apparently) - Medicago arabica. So probably a weed...
  • Thank you! I will remove!
  • I leave the medic plants in my garden grow as the flowers seem to be popular with the bees and they also can have nitrogen fixing bacteria associated with the roots like the other clover relatives. I think they are more like a wild flower than a weed.
  • It's only a weed if you don't like it growing where it is.

I leave clover to spread in my grass. I like the flowers and it stays green when the grass goes crispy in the summer. You need to remember to wear shoes when walking on it. I trod in a bee last year with predictable consequences😖
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Ouch!! I leave clover in my lawn too. And daisies. I'm not one for a lawn as such, its more a mown green area in our garden.
