What is this plant?

Hello! Can anyone help identify this plant please?

I discovered it in a small pot when we moved to our new home. I decided to keep it and see if it was anything worth keeping. To my surprise, last spring it grew significantly and established deep purple stems and new leaves tinged with purple.

The below photos were taken last summer, it appeared to drop its leaves over winter. It seems to be a climber of some sorts. Someone mentioned it could be some kind of ornamental ivy? I'm deciding whether its worth purchasing a trellis for it grow up, but if it's a weed then perhaps not. Any help identifying this plant would be much appreciated!

    Hello
Not an ivy but the leaves do look similar to one of the Actindia trifolium plants we have in the garden. It is a climber.

Actinidia  has alternate leaves ...which rules it out.
    Mystery plant has opposite leaves.

Looks like  Leycesteria formosa golden lantern. Not a climbing plant.
    Perthshire. SCOTLAND .

I thought but was Himalayan Honeysuckle too, but the stems looked a bit too twiggy
    In London. Keen but lazy.
