Have you tried fabric grow bags? How are they?

I'd like to use this awkward space behind my house to squeeze some more vegetable plants into. Last year I used this decaying plastic table to put smaller pots on but I'd like to get rid of the table, and maybe the plastic greenhouse, too. I've looked at a variety of options for big planters but haven't quite found what I have in mind at a price I'm happy with. One thing I'm considering is your standard cheap grow bag on a plastic tray, but I've also seen various fabric options and I wondered if they are any good. I haven't quite decided what to try to grow in them but I'm thinking things like carrots that need a somewhat deeper pot.

There's about 2 feet between the back of the house and the step up into the rest of the garden. I'd like to put the planters in that area so that they are sheltered but also get the best light.

I quite liked using those 99p reusable plastic woven bags for your shopping.  The heavy duty type.  Think Ikea bag type fabric.  Just roll down the top a bit to keep it from flopping over.  I used it for growing potatoes, so just rolled it down low, then raised up the edges a bit more every time I 'hilled' them up.

Also, grow bags can be sat upright and planted in from the end for deeper soil.

@Blue Onion  How long did they last for you? I tried an IKEA bag once but it fell apart in the sun and I had tiny bits of blue plastic everywhere. Maybe I should have covered them with something.

@p@pansyface Thank you, I'll check them out.

Mine wasn't actually an IKEA bag, but was similar.  I just used mine across the spring and summer, for two or three years.  I think one was a bag given to us by the council for recycling collection - but then they soon gave us a bin, so I reused it for gardening.
