I’ve only just watched the episode catch up from last week.. interesting comments made here and I think I smiled more at the fact that so many people are up in arms about the idea of Monty reintroducing new hedges than the fact that he’s going to do it.

There seems to be a coercive campaign for ‘wildlife’ themed horticultural endeavours.. with three segments of the programme dedicated to it - not dissimilar to the ‘peat free compost’ campaign where at one point in time it’s almost as if Monty couldn’t finish each sentence without saying ‘peat free’ while slowing down considerably to enunciate it. Kate bradbury’s wildlife garden looked decent but the London bloke’s roof is just messy and uninspiring to me.

I also agree that viewers videos are of mixed qualities.. and the colander seed sowing lady’s video seems to have been taken last year as I could see roses blooming behind her in the opening scene and we are only in April now. Surely they have more up to date videos that’s in season..?

I liked this week's video of the chap making the cloches. That's a method that I haven't seen before.

The cloches looked quite small to me, probably 12” wide and 10” high.

You could of course make them bigger, using the same method.

I guess he only needs them until his rows of veggie seeds are up and growing, covering one row each so that each plant type can be covered/uncovered separately. With a wider piece of plastic (or two pieces overlapping) and longer metal rods I think they could be made higher and\or wider.

It was good to see a viewers video that I found useful rather than wanting to roll my eyes at or just fast forward. If they could have more like that I'd quite enjoy them.

As usual, I am easily pleased and enjoyed it all, particularly the chili lady in Devon (though I don't grow them myself) and the London garden (which my husband hated because there's no lawn and keeps thinking our lawn is under threat - he is right ;) )
