I really enjoyed Adam Frosts episode last night, what a lovely change. Dont always watch GW these days but Adam's relaxed and knowledgeable delivery sucked me back in! More please!!
I agree that it made a change to see Adam's garden, his delight in seeing the Red Kites flying overhead made me smile. My OH commented that the programme seemed "lighter" somehow. With the greatest respect to Monty and all the work he has done for the programme, l think (at the very least) a share of the presenting duties with Adam and maybe other presenters would give the programme a lift. Monty seems tired to me, the stress of the last 12 months and the way the programme has had to be produced must have been a strain at times.
I've stopped watching on Friday night and only ever watch on catch-up. Then I can avoid all the viewer videos and repeats from previous years. Most episodes now take about 15 minutes to watch.
I like both AF and MD and would like to see a more consistent 'rota' of segments from both their gardens, as well as the other contributors (FT, CK, etc.). Although I'm not a fan of all their presenting styles, variety is the spice of life. Different gardens and presenters would make for a more interesting programme. It feels a little 'all or nothing' at times to me.
I agree @AnniD a more equitable share of filming time among presenters would make for a better programme. The cyclical nature of gardening also makes it repetitive if it's Monty every year starting beans and tomatoes, seeing someone else do those yearly features would give a different perspective and backdrop to stave off boredom for longterm viewers. They way the use Carol is very strange, on a normal year she gets trapped in show marquees and this last year has been doing single plant features. Her garden is absolutely lovely and more relatable but somehow never makes it on GW. Wonder if it's off limits because of her own programmes made there.
Some years ago there were several presenters and items on design, friut and veg growing and flowers. Sometimes guests would feature a project or garden. There was quite a lot of criticism of presenters and GW moved to just one., with the odd addition. Personally, I enjoyed the variety of items and presenting styles and would love to go back in that direction. Monty and Adam are great but they are rich men with huge gardens and the visits to allotments have become weird. Perhaps as Covid restrictions are easing we will see more variety.

I suspect he is. He is after all 65 with dodgy knees and splits his time with presenting and writing ( and activities we never see). Same with Carol. Now 75. I used to be a fan of MD but for various reasons I think his time on GW needs to come to a close...change is good. Whether Adam or anybody else wants to take the helm of GW is up to them - and the BBC - but personally I'd like Toby Buckland to be given a chance. I'd also love to see a regular spot by Charles Dowding. Assuming of course they'd want to do it.
like others, I record and hover over the FF button. There's only so many times I can watch MD raking his veg plots and sowing beans etc, or remodelling The Mound,( are we now on the 5th or 6th version ? )
