Vinca major or minor

  Why do you want that much vinca? Seems  a lot.  I would go for a variety of shrubs.

  Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

  Redwing has a point. There are a great deal of ground cover shrubs that would fit the bill and give a bit more interest, plus they might do a better job of consolidating the bank and keeping the weeds down. Heather would be worth considering.

  If you rewild you can cut it by tying a rope to the handle of your lawn mower for dropping it down and pulling it back up the slope. A cheap flymo would do the trick.
