Dead Patch In Established Laurel Hedge

Hello, can anyone advise what may have caused the dead patch to appear in my laurel hedge. Happened last year and appears to be getting bigger.  Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A number of reasons. My guess is drought stress due to prolonged dry weather or possible Shot-Hole disease, a common problem with Cherry Laurels. You may see holes or damage to leaves prior to leaf fall. Prune back the area in late spring and keep area well watered. Hopefully, the shrub will recover over the months after that.
