my wife acquired this ficus elastica almost a month ago from a good friend, after two weeks it shed 2 lower leaves, and then a branch appeared, and the following week 2 more leaves dropped, and another branch started to appear, but i noticed that on one new leaf, there is a brown spot
It seems to be in the dark in a small pot Either of these issues will affect the health of your plant. Is there a drainage hole in the bottom of the pot?
It could also have been shocked by the move, particularly if it was taken outside to a car etc when the weather was cold. However, losing some lower leaves and growing side branches is natural behaviour for a rubber plant as it grows older. It's a large tree in it's natural tropical habitat.

there is a drainage hole in that pot, regarding the pot size, is there a ratio that is to be a guide for example, a 4 ft. ficus should at least be in a 14in X 14 in pot?

i remembered we had a difficulty loading it in the car when we transported it
