Acer Bloodgood - can I safely plant next to paving

I have a 90cm wide border surrounding a paved patio, it is possible to plant an Acer (bloodgood) into it without the roots interfering with the paving? The other side of the border is a brick wall. Thanks in advance for any advice  :)

I would be more concerned about the acer having enough nutrients in the soil, enough space to spread its roots and enough moisture in the rain shadow of the wall not to mention brick walls absorbing lots of moisture themselves unless it's a house wall with a  damp proof course.
