Chickens

I Have always fancied having Chickens, but they can cause so much destruction, I foolishly let them stay for a whole day in the upper part of my garden, when I returned the soil was as if I had raked it, and some of my Crocus and daffodil bulbs had been scratched up. I keep them in a section of the garden fully fenced off, now and again under strict observance I allow them 20 minutes on a patch of my Veg plots to get a few grubs, then they are ushered back.

Hens should be kept indoors because of Avian Flu restrictions.

Loraine is correct from 14.12 all hens and other foul, (not sure which) have to be kept indoors because of avian flu outbreak.
  • And any kind of run attached to their house must have the roof covered so that no droppings from a passing bird can fall into the run. Also, you are not allowed to move the house/run to fresh ground whilst restrictions are in place.
