....don't say "don't plant bamboo", or generalise about any plant family.  It makes no more sense than saying "don't plant conifers" because leylandii are a pain if planted in the wrong place.

Don't plant anything in a pot or container that you wouldn't be happy to smash when you need to get it out.

    In London. Keen but lazy.

Don't forget to check if next doors cat has cra##ed in your border again before using your hands to plant....🤮

Don't leave your favoured gardening gloves drying out in the sun, because the next morning one will turn up a foot down in next door's raised bed, and the other will have disappeared into the ewigkeit. 🤬

Don't be a lazy skinflint and leave last year's tulips untouched in their pot by the front door thinking they will still put on a nice show. No they don't.

Don’t fool yourself that next doors cat will actually want to live next door.....it knows I’m a much better cat mum!
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.

    Not just foxes.
My old gander found one of my gloves that I forgot to bring in, ran off with it and drowned it in the pond!
  • Don't underestimate the amount of soil it takes to fill a pond.   :/  My (inherited with the house) one is half-full now, but according to 'soil estimating tools'  I still need about 6-7 tonnes of soil! D'oh!

(Pond is 5m x 3m and currently about 350mm deep)
Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
