Ok brilliant. Do you know what type of Phyllostachys this would be?
Is it golden bamboo?
If its Phyllostachys Aurea its classed as a clumping form according to the label I have for mine. I'm afraid I'm not qualified to tell you if that's what it is.

Yes Phyllostachys will clump maybe for 3 or 5 years or more then one year you will find it growing a couple of metres away and from then on it's a runner. There are yellow and black versions I had the black and they don't turn that colour until the stem is in it's second year so probably the same for the yellow. So if none of the stems are yellow by now it's unlikely to be that variety
