Help required - lawn prep

Hi everyone - new member here for some advice. Trying to sort a garden out that had gone a little wild. Trees have been tamed and overgrowth all cut back. There had once been a lawn which we'd like to replace however there are lots of straggly roots of various things across the area. I suspect these could be brambles and or ivy. What's the best method to get rid of these and prepare for turf going down ? Any advice appreciated - thanks
