Is it too early to divide potted bamboos?

I bought a bog-standard golden bamboo from a DIY place a few years back. It did really well in a big pot so divided it two years ago. Now they're both pretty big again and I'd like to turn them into four plants!

Is now a good time? I've read various suggestions of the best time to do it, ranging from winter to April. I'm not up to much this weekend so thought I might get them done. Any thoughts?

    If no frost is forecast, go ahead.  Don't forget the watering before and afterwards.

    None predicted after tonight for the next week. Looks like I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
