A neighbour is urgently trying to ID this plant as a child has eaten a lot of the berries.
Thanks

My first thought too, fortunately not toxic, supposed to taste a bit like germolene

I don't know it, but the pictures look very close. Not toxic.

    I think so too.

This recommends to call 111 if in doubt.

My first thought was Gaultheria procumbens too, but I can't be 100% sure (haven't grown it for a long time).  It's probably best to call 111 and if they say to take the child to A&E, take some of the berries and leaves with you.

The neighbour is taking the child into A&E just to be sure. Thanks for all the speedy thoughts.

Hopefully all resolved safely by now. I eat various gaultheria berries from the garden - gaultheria shallon and gaultheria mucronata. The former makes an amazing jam and the latter are fairly bland but refreshing.

I hope they are gaultheria berries.

Don’t want to hijack this serious thread, but would be interested in recipe for jam. Steephill, please see fruit and veg category, thanks.
