Solanum dead looking after cold snap

Afternoon

I have a few of sheltered solanums thats have thrived since I planted them last year, however unfortunately they have all looked dead since the Feb snow. Will they come back? Is there anything I can do to encourage them?

Which one?  Climbers such as solanum crispum and solanum laxum are hardy down to -10C in theory but some will give up the ghost at -5C.   I think all you can do is wait and see.  Give them till mid April to see if they produce new shoots.

  • Do you mean Solanum crispum, commonly called 'Potato vine'?  If so, they wil probably come back from low down or even from below the soil.  Don't cut anything back yet, just in case, as they flower on last year's growth.

Its album and glasvenin. We probably had "feels like" -12 temps last month, but it's probably the most protected element of the garden, albeit sees the least hours of sunlight. Fingers crossed then.
  • Mine are in containers in quite exposed spots and look dead every year at this time. Always come back though. So far...
