Raspberry cane pruning.

I was given 12 new summer fruiting raspberry canes last year 2020, in late Autumn i cut the old growth back, and that left me with just the new growth for the 2021 season, the new canes are between 10ft and 12ft in height, so i have folded them over and secured them, but, should they be that tall, or should i cut them to 6ft to allow them to fit under the bird netting cage?

  • I would bend them and train them horizontally.

  • Agreed,  training them down will encourage much more fruit spurs you will get a splendid crop.
