Snapped pampas grass

I have recently moved to a property that has a large patch of pampas grass. The wind and weather has got to jt and its looking worse for wear. Some of the plant has snapped. How do i care for it? Thanks

    Those are last year's plumes. There will be new ones this year.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Do j need to cut these ones down or will i rectify itself? Thanks

    Cut them all down as low as possible and then comb the foliage with a good garden rake to remove loose and dead stuff.  It will grow new plumes this year.

    Wear gloves! Pampass will give you very nasty cuts if handled carelessly.
  • I used to cut the old plumes off as low as possible, then remove the heads and hang those somewhere for the birds to use as nesting material. :)
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
