Pruning Quince

Hi, lots of advice about keeping established quince trees open centred by removing branches growing into the centre back to the base but I cant find anything about cutting back leaders and laterals etc. Is all of the previous seasons growth just left or can you reduce it?

  • @paulmuddle They are quite thuggish trees -  I have two (about 8 year old) and had to really hack them back this year. On one I have achieved a more open structure and on the other one, it grew so many shoots I thought of calling a spaghetti tree. I'll try and remember to take pics this weekend.
