White vinegar on ground ivy

  The best way is to get a pickaxe or mattock and dig out as much as you can. After, pull up every shoot you see, as soon as you see it. Vinegar is better on your food than your garden.

  It won't work I'm afraid.
  It'll kill all the organisms in the soil and within a day or so the soil will have neutralised the vinegar.
  The ivy won't even notice it unless you plan to use gallons of the stuff

  just because vinegar is "natural" doesn't make it harmless. 
  You might as well use a contact weedkiller

  to be honest, I have never heard of this compound being used but thought I would run it past the experts!
  
  shredding the leaves and then soaking them  in water for about a week renders them ok for the compost heap so not all lost

  It's great for cleaning chrome radiators but I wouldn't put it in my garden. It's a natural acid.

  @seakale is referring to Hedera helix ...  yet another example of the confusion that can occur when common names are used. 😕
