Grass and gravel

Hi all we have loads of gravel in our garden, we have taken off most of the gravel but there is still loads stuck in the mud really hard to get up all the membrane was all in bits, we want to put grass down will it work with gravel still there?

    Sorry there is no short cut if you want a decent lawn. 
    The soil will be very compacted so you will need to preferably dig it over otherwise you could have drainage problems, or you can rake over the top few inches to loosen the gravel and level off any lumps and bumps. 
    Stones tend to work themselves to the surface whether they will do this under grass i dont know but if they do you are going to wreck your mower.
    Plenty of videos on how to prepare for laying turf.

    If you've got "mud" now, you'll still have "mud" if you put grass down and you'll have wasted a lot of time , effort and money.
