Calycanthus

Hi,

can anyone advise me if I could keep a calycanthus in a large pot . Or must it be planted in the ground.

    I can see you are someone who likes a challenge. Calycanthus is a native of N America and though it looks a bit like passion flower is a member of the laurel group. The main problem is that it likes a dryish climate ie California.  You have a couple of options, either protect from winter wet or grow it in a large pot in a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory, which is what you seem to be doing, and put it outside during the summer.
