Dead lawn patch

Hi, I have recently moved house and now have a lovely garden to enjoy, however, I have one patch in my lawn that looks like this(see photo) what can I do to remedy this, and get a complete lawn?

  • Check that it's not waterlogged,  go over the area with a fork, push it in vertically and give it a wiggle to get some air in. Check there's nothing overhanging, and blocking the light. Next month when it's warmer and the  rest of the grass is growing, mix some seed with a soil based compost (J I  No 1 or2 ) and re-seed. Protect from birds, keep damp  but not wet.   By summer it should have grown, and be cutable with the rest of the lawn.
I think there's a  video on  the GW site of Monty showing this in some detail.

    As @Allotment Boy says - there's a good chance it's a bit shady and/or damp there.
You can get seed suitable for shadier areas too, so it might be worth looking for that.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Great, I will look at this thanks! ☺️
