Would these plants come back again?

  • Indeed, the Begonia is a Bergenia, sorry for mixing up the names.

Many thank to all of you for your comments. Much appreciated!
I won't touch any of the plants :) and have to wait.

  • Just a quick update here for the records: All wild-flowers, Verbascum plants, and also the Bergenia recovered. I'm sure that the tree fern also will come back. I had protected the root. Also the other ferns look good.
What had died were the Digitalis Berry Canary, Digitalis Raspberry, Gaura plants and the Bowles Mauve plants. I give up having Bowles Mauve. It's now the second winter that they didn't survive our harsh Wiltshire winters. Our garden is too much exposed to the wind, not to mention the cold and snow.
I will touch the plants in 2 weeks time when the new wild-flowers will be planted.
Last year, I had the first time wild-flowers (Leucanthemum, Greater Knapweed, Yarrow, Sneezwort) in the garden and I was surprised how easy they are. No fuss for months, just a little bit water in the first 2 months. Especially Leucanthemum May Queen is such a lovely plant. I had bought these plants out of desperation at our local Hillier garden centre when it became clear that we will be soon in a lockdown in March and I had a blank new bed with nothing in and a new empty greenhouse.
If somebody is looking for a low maintenance garden, forget lawn, use wild-flowers
