Some varieties (eg. Honourine Jobert) tend to thrive in a shady spot and tend not to spread beyond the shady area, but other varieties prefer a sunny aspect and can spread quickly in a sunny border if the soil conditions are favourable, so be warned. I made the mistake of planting a single plant of 'September Charm' in a sunny border about 5 years ago, and now it occupies the whole border. It has proven to be invasive and I have spent a lot of my time digging it out to make space for other plants. Unfortunately though, the rhizomes spread quickly and it soon re-colonises. I've had to learn to live with it because the only way to eradicate it would be to dig out every piece of rhizome from the border and completely replace the soil.
The pink ones do seem to be far more invasive @Andyman, but it also comes down to climate and conditions. They don't seem to be such a big problem here, so I think it's the lighter soil that gives them an upper hand in some gardens. I don't really like pale pink so I only grow whites, but I did grow them in the past without a problem, and there are loads in gardens round here. There was another thread a while ago where we debated the pros and cons, but they're great plants for damp shade - and very valuable at this time of year. Some of the semi double whites are particularly nice
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
