These hyacinths are an amazing zingy pink colour... not everyone's cup of tea, but very cheery, But who was Jan Bos?
"... Appropriately enough he was the Dutch speed skater who became world champion, Olympic silver medallist and then went on in 2012 to be a sprint cyclist. All that energy is summed up in this tremendous flower but in fact this is an old variety dating from 1910. Maybe the man was named after the flower?..."
What a really great colour @Janie B, tricky to even get a photo, so bright, even more stunning in the' flesh' I bet.
I must say when I am looking at plant catalogues/websites the names really do attract me/interest me, yet another pull towards buying plants I don't really need.

I made a similar mistake with a DA rose, I wanted a rose with the name of Jean to plant in memory of my MIL/grandma to my son. I found one called Jean Mermoz, suited my needs too and very pretty. Only later found out it was actually named after a French aviator and was actually 'John' French spelling Jean - I am now on a mission to buy another one called Jean. I have found one but now I can't get it shipped to France. At least I have a funny story to think about when I look at it.

@Nollie, I really like that euphorbia "Bonfire", haven't seen it before. You are quite in advance with your flowers in Spain. I'm in SW France and roses and salvias are nowhere near flowering yet.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Beautiful gardens and flowers everyone, I enjoyed catching up on the last few pages. Another frost this AM, seems like there has been one everyday since Easter Sunday. The cold keeps snapping and bending the daff stems, I've never had so many inside. Here's the latest batch, quite a fun assortment:
I got them from Promesse de Fleurs @Busy-Lizzie, a useful front of border/filler plant. They were tiny when I got them a couple of years ago and will bulk up to a mound of around 30x30cm. Some sites say to 40x45 but mine have never reached that yet. Glorious March weather brought things on early, but some tender new growth got frost-nipped afterwards!
