@D0rdogne_Damsel yes the logs are for the insects, newts and frogs ... there was a small heap of logs there before the tree work but now it’s been enlarged, rather squashing some Iris foetidissima and a hellebore ... but they’ll push their way up through and around the logs and the ferns and moss will grow over them. It’ll look fine in a year or so. 😊

Anna's Red hellebores are doing better and better each year. They have an odd habit, like the stems are held together with elastic bands - tightly held. They are holding their colour wonderfully well and packed with buds. Tiny slugs and snails like to overwinter in their folds and snack on the petals.
Gorgeous hellebores. Love your red one @Fire, what a lot of buds!
I have tackled another bed in my new garden. I've weeded and planted the bed in front of the terrace over the last few days. Most of the plants came from the old house but there are 2 new roses, Lady Emma Hamilton (I had to leave my old one behind) and Marie Curie and a few other new plants. Son 1 gave me the lavenders. I've planted climbing rose, Crown Princess Margareta, hope she recovers, had been dreadfully eaten by deer at the old place. The rocks were already there, but I quite like them.
