Newly weeded bed looks much better @Busy-Lizzie, a good start. You had a very lovely garden in your old place and are obviously a very talented gardener but as you say the upkeep must have been considerable. Mind you, I have to say your new garden doesn't look much smaller - I thought you were downsizing! How's the donkey?
Thank you, @Lizzie27. The donkey is fine, as soon as the snow melts in the Auvergne he's off to his new home.
The new garden is smaller, the main garden area is 40 x 17m. At the old place the fenced (against deer) area was 50 x 25m then the same again on the lower level then there was the bit on the other side on the house. I won't make so many flower beds.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
All those hellebores are gorgeous. Amazing the way that @Papi Jo's hellebore recovered. I hope my 5 new ones in front of the wall in the bed above do OK. Under a tree can be dry but I had them under a tree in my last garden and they were fine.

@Busy-Lizzie. A beautiful first garden, very impressive,I expect the present one will be just as fabulous when you have finished! A good start, lovely pebbled flowerbed.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Enjoyed a day in the garden today, spring is definitely on the way.
The bee was having a wonderful time. The markings on these crocus is so lovely I took a close up, strange angle, but they are just so amazingly gorgeous.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
