I cover with horticultural fleece, sometimes several layers. It comes in different thicknesses so I bought a thicker one.

Oh no!  How awful.  So much depends on your cold frame, how much protection it offered, and how cold the plants got.  If they are all wilted looking, they probably got too cold.  I think the sweet peas and the rudbeckia will fair better than the others in cold, but it depends.

Thankfully there is still time to start again.

To everything there is a season, @Wisterialover, and a rudimentary error is to start growing things too soon. Most of us have been there. As my American neighbour says, God willing and the creek don’t rise those plants, protected by fleece, might pull through. If not it is a lesson learned.

  • @Wisterialover many of the seedlings you mention are very hardy and may still come through this.  Whatever you do, do not try and warm them up by bringing the trays etc inside as this will actually cause more damage.  They must be allowed to thaw naturally as the weather warms-up (as is forecast over the next few days.)
