Hello and welcome. There is a myrtle in my garden, planted long before we came here and it sometimes does that. It doesn't like the cold much and sections die back, but come the spring it always recovers and suckers, too, so you should be ok.
I agree - I have had one for many years and sometimes get the same on the foliage. It doesn't seem to harm the shrub in any way and as the leaves mature and get darker the marks are barely noticeable. Mine is laden with black berries this winter - never seen so many.

Thanks for that. I should have said the plant is in a large pot and has been overwintering in an unheated conservatory - quite cold here on a hill in the Forest of Dean as compared to the Isle of Wight where I bought it! Sounds as if it should recover when the weather improves and I can move it outside!
