Yucca plant suffering for the first time in 8 years

So... I have had this yucca since it was a foot tall.  It’s now about 6 feet. Long story short.. I change the soil every 2 years or so..be sure not to over-water... it always slows down in the winter months (slow growth.. more dying off leaves) But remains healthy and then goes nuts again once the  days get longer.  This winter it really seems to be suffering. It’s in front of a window all day.. I’m just not sure what’s going on.  It has drainage holes.. I mean ive kept it going for 7 years without a problem.  This is different. I’ve lost 30 leaves over the past 3 months, and the big change I’ve noticed is the new leaves in the center top.. you know they’re pointy and sharp, dark green, tall, etc.  now they are light light green in color, half as tall, and soft and limp. Help I feel like my baby is dying.  I’ve expanded pots a half a dozen times the roots are not suffocating. Ive added an even bigger pot than its ever had with fresh tropical plan soil. The trunk and stalks are not soft and still stiff. Suggestions? I appreciate it! :)

More pics. Sorry I didn’t take pics with the died off leaves. They didn’t get brown at the tips they just turned yellow, limp, and died. Very Quick. It was doing ok in October, November, December and started to slow and die a little quicker in late December, January and now we are in February.  Its
possible it’s just a long dark winter here in Ohio with short days and it always has light as you can see.. but maybe winter is just taking its toll. The warm summer days it goes to a sun porch with twice the light and longer days, 70-80 degrees and really goes crazy with growth, and twice the amount of leaves you see here, all dark dark green with spikes for new growth.
  • Now it's grown so tall, those leaves are only really getting light from underneath and not enough to produce a healthy amount of chlorophyll to feed the plant. Keeping it somewhere colder, as @Songbird-1 suggests, would allow it to go dormant and need less light.
I am currently curating 2 for my daughter, one in the house and one in the unheated greenhouse which has dropped to freezing point or maybe a little lower - I haven't checked the last 2 days.
Both look healthy. They both get overhead light, the house one from a large south facing window, as well as a roof light, though not today as it is covered in snow!

  • Buttercup days well well!  I never thought Of that.  Looking at the plant as I read that you’re absolutely right, most of the light it’s getting is from the sides and below, not directly above.  I figured it was a light issue but was confused because It’s in front of a large window all day. Damn well bring on the spring I gotta get this baby outside

In the mean time Ill move it to a corner where there’s 2 windows on each corner so it gets more light  from different angles.  I bet this helps, Thanks guys :)
