Unwell Golden Pothos

I recently purchased a new Golden Pothos from Waitrose Garden. It arrived last week and looked great. However, in that week it's taken a real turn and now looks pretty unhealthy. A lot of the leaves have started to droop, and quite a few of those at the bottom have turned yellow and are starting to shrivel.

I wondered whether this could be root rot, so I inspected the roots. They mostly look fine although some at the bottom maybe less so? The soil is mostly dry at the top, although very slightly damp at the very base. It also seems to have happened very quickly - we've only had the plant a week and watered it once when it arrived!

Is it likely to be root rot causing this, or is there something else going on?! Grateful for any help/ advice!

It could be that your plant got a bit cold on its journey.....it is supposed to be kept above 10C so any long journey from supplier to buyer could result in the plant getting chilled at this time of year.
