Are Sweet Williams worthy of perseverance?

I planted loads of Sweet Williams in my pots in October not realising they wouldn’t flower until their second year.  Is it worth leaving them there i.e is the pay off worthwhile?  I’m begrudging them taking space that flowering bedding plants could use from May.  I’m not even fond of the foliage, it just looks untidy.

    They are untidy plants but the flowers last a long time and are quite impressive. It is probably best to hide them in a flower bed where their slovenly ways can be masked by other foliage.

    My garden is full of pots so I don’t have flower beds as such.  Maybe I could buy some cheap plastic pots and hide them away in those somewhere!  I’m new to this so I’ll learn from my mistake!  Thank you 😊

    I like them a lot - long flowering, easy to take cuttings.

    I like the flowers too and they smell nice.
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    I grow the variety “Pinocchio” every year from seed. They are so easy to grow and are very compact. The evergreen foliage looks good throughout the Winter.

    @Berkley I don’t know what these are but I got carried away expecting a magnificent show of flowers 🤦🏼‍♀️😄
