Gypsophila and mugwort seeds

Hi all
I am about to seed in these 2 types and wondering:
1. which compost ( specific UK brand and name, not abstract type, bc this can be looked up on the internet) would suit both. 2. Do I need to use UV lamp and heating mat?
I am completely new to all this. I used to grow herbs and plants as a child but my parents have a garden. I now live in a flat and intended to grow everything in pots.
3. What are my chances it will succeed in a pot?
