I've never heard of Absolutely Fabulous having blackspot problems in the UK but I've heard about it blackspotting in Europe and in the US. My theory is that it is resistant to our strain of BS - we only have one here, while in Europe, they have four strains. Graham Thomas and Golden Celebration are almost guaranteed to get some BS but they are very pretty roses. To add one more recommendation to confuse things if semi-double is OK, I recommend Scented Garden. It's very vigorous, reliable, disease-resistant and fragrant, the colour is yellow with blended pink edges, fading to cream with yellow centres and blush edges.
You may well be right there, @edhelka, or it could be Ab Fab eventually succumbs to my summer humidity.
I understand there is only one Graham Thomas, even though DA list them separately, as both have the same breeders code (Ausmas). Can be pruned as a shrub or trained to climb.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Another lovely David Austin rose is 'Tottering-by-Gently' It's a single flower with a light perfume. Being single it is good for the beneficial insects.
A gardener's work is never at an end - (John Evelyn 1620-1706)
I was going to suggest Arthur Bell too. I bought it because it's fragrance was so lovely. Mine has been growing for years, and I even moved it from my last house to the new one, without any problem.
I've had my eye on 'Amber Flower Carpet' for some time since seeing it radiant with health in two rose gardens where other things were sickening. Although I realise it may not be what you are looking for, as it is only 60 cm high x 90 cm wide, it is a very nice smaller yellow rose.
I've recently planted Country Parson in my garden..new DA rose in 2020, so hoping that will be a great yellow rose! Also have Chinatown which does well in my garden.
Thank you so much for your suggestions, they really are lovely. Looking at Golden Celebration and Graham Thomas the only differences I can tell are bloom size and fragrance, would you agree?
