  • The Internet says plum trees will start to fruit when they are 3 to 6 years of age.  Was your tree tiny when you planted it?

The other possibility is that you have bullfinches in your garden.  They love fruit tree buds and can strip a tree of its buds in no time...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • The tree was 5 foot tall when planted and have no bullfinches around my area.Would a mulch and fertilize do any good.
  • If it doesn't blossom this year, give it a high potash feed and make sure it is watered deeply (several bucketfuls, slowly tipped over the roots so that the water doesn't run off) during any dry periods, especially in the autumn as the tree starts making the fruit buds for next season during that time, and if it doesn't get enough water only leaf buds will be formed.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks Guys
