Preventing accidents with cane markers?

I have put a lot of canes out as reminders where I have put things and it got me wondering  what you use on the ends of your canes to prevent accidents? I have seen small pots being used on tv.

I’ve used pots too and also have some of the proper green rubber thingies designed for the job. Always used to save used wine corks for use too but sadly, many bottles now have screw tops...😊

Hello @Meomye   As a very accident prone person, even with pots or corks on the ends, the garden goblins have it in for me!  I use small (wall) tiles stuck in the ground and a good felt tip pen to mark the row and date.  They can be used again each year.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

I take Benecol and use the empty pots.
I can see the empty pots I put on canes last spring are mostly still in place today.

I use the special green cane toppers.
North East Somerset - Clay soil over limestone
  • I have used all sorts of 'cane toppers' over the years - dependent upon diameter, duration and likelihood of disturbance: empty 'coke' cans (other soft/hard drinks are available!), odd socks, empty pill & eye drop containers (slice off the 'nipple' to give suitable diameter), tin cans (shiny is best = bird scarer function too), chewed gum (esp on thin plant sticks), foil from cup cakes/mince pies etc, (squeeze to shape) & the occasional proper green 'thingie' gleaned from GC outings......Best of luck with your gardening this season!

I use little terracotta pots that were being given away. They look nice. Split  corks  also work well.

We take Actimel and use the pots which are similar.
Peel the wraps off and paint with a dark grey acrylic paint if you want to disguise them.

I have some bought things but blue tac or chewing gum would probably do the job. I don't have sticky up canes much. I tend to tie them into tepees.
I would use benecol or yakult bottles or the like if the contents didn't taste so disgusting. Vaccine vials look like they'd be just the job😉
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I've used yakult bottles in the past. I peeled the wrapping off and painted the green so they didn't stand out too much. They did rattle in the wind which did get a little annoying. I've got some of those proper green cane toppers as well which I think I prefer

A friend was very nearly blinded by a garden cane (eyeball ruptured), so I am much more careful than I was. Yes, I think wearing glasses has saved me considerable face damage. Mostly I have to be careful when jumping down from walls. I have nearly skewered myself several times like a kebab.
