Takeover bid

Hello, I wonder if anyone can advise me on what to grow to replace madly growing rosa rugosa, (our new garden was planted up with about 10!) what wildlife friendly smaller shrubs can I plant in their place? Would like to possibly save one btw.
Many thanks,

Difficult to advise without knowing the space you have for large or small shrubs,  sunlight or more shady, evergreen or not,  soil type.
I too planted 10 down the side of the house and am down to one, although I must have left some roots as they still regrow where I don't want them.
Can't help with shrubs as I just moved some that had outgrown the space along with some perennials that were more suited to the sun.

  • It's a small garden approx 3mx 25m with normal ph soil, in the South West of uk, quite a lot of light, especially sunlight when we get it, also a lot of rain up on a gabion wall!
    It was ready planted...

If you can take a photo or two that would help as still no idea where these roses are planted as if it's down the length you can't have much width left!
