Photinia standard looking sick

Please advise - I’ve had these two red robins , standard in pots for about 3 years , given to me by a friend.  There were signs of the weevil beetle last year ( leaf notches) , which I treated. Last year the spots also appeared - see photo. Is there anything I can do to revive the trees or shall I get rid of them ? Is this a fungus or a pest?  Thanks, Alexandra

  • I remember reading a similar post about these trees a couple of weeks ago and I think the general consensus was it is 'normal'....maybe you could try and search for the thread.

Typical red robin sadly, I had and still to some degree too. Last summer they responded well to a good feed every so often. Epsom salt foliar spray and rose clear (not all at the same time 😉) feeding (chicken manure/blood fish bone) I think is key to help them battle through. Far amount of work but worth it for spring colour.
  • They may also be more susceptible to disease and problems if they are struggling in their pots. How big are the pots? Are they in a soil-based medium and not pot-bound? Good availability of nutrients and water? Maybe these things need addressing, too, to give them their best chance at recovery?
