How to hide an electricity pole in my garden

I have just moved and there is a very prominent electricity pole outside my lounge folding doors.  The floor has been wooded (its a small garden) with a raised bed to one side which you cant see from the lounge.  All I can see is this great lump of wood - are there any ideas how to plant around it with planters maybe some black bamboo.  But I need something to raise the pots so that the pole becomes invisible from inside the lounge. I have looked for planters but just can find any that go around the pole.

You could put separate containers around the pole, or just on the side facing your lounge. Or build a container/raised bed from timber if you have skills in that area.

Not sure you're allowed to do that. The elec. board might object.
  • We had a pole in our garden for decades and then contacted the board to see if it could be removed as we needed to repair the garage. Found that for all those years we were supposed to have been paid for it being there. Silly little money.
However they did come and look at it and it was removed at no expense to us.
    Worth investigating.
  • Thank you everybody for your comments, much appreciated.  Have bought a bamboo and a large container to put the pot in so it wont leak onto the new paving.  Also a couple of other plants that will grow up the netting which I am going to put up tomorrow.  It'll look nice :) Will contact the board too just to see if they would remove it, but I believe its a shared pole telephone/electricity.  I have a number to ring for solicitors that deal with this problem and see that they have to say.

Gail, Most poles ARE shared - but this one is on YOUR land.  I'd use the CAB/Councillors/MPs route before laying out your own cash, but good luck.
