Greenhouse Paving Base

I finally bit the bullet and took down my 1980's wooden greenhouse and bought a new greenhouse. I want to use perimeter of paving to lay the greenhouse on. I did find someone who quoted £346 which includes materials and labour. (8 x 12 greenhouse) Does this sound reasonable? Or am I best to buy the material myself and just pay for labour? Being as the work needs to be so precise I am not confident to lay the paving myself. Any help advice would be most welcome.

I don't know if it's appropriate in your situation, but when I had the paving where my greenhouse sits laid, the landscapers suggested it was done on a very slight slope - only 4° so its not noticable - but it stops puddling inside the greenhouse when it rains.

£346 sounds reasonable to me, but why not get another quote or two and see how they compare.
As Philippa says, nothing beats a local recommendation.

  • If you don't feel confident about making a good job of the base yourself, it would be a pity to risk the overall stability of your new GH.
Only you can really decide whether or not the quote is reasonable.  Best way if possible is to choose a local company and see if you can get any personal recommendations re their work and reliability.  The "Next Door" sites are usually quite helpful with this type of query.

Thank you for recommending Next Door I had never heard of it and turns out my neighbours had not either as I was the first to sign up to it.
